Why Fountain Pen Sales Are Rising?

Actually a bit of gloom is always hidden in the hearts of fountain pen lovers since we have to struggle against the mainstream while everyone is texting super fast and asking “what is a letter?” and we keep taking notes to our notebooks. However, the article recently published in BBC tells us not to be pessimistic.According to Lamy, sales are increased %5 when compared to 2011 and Parker claims a worldwide resurgence in the past five years.

Amazon says sales so far this year have doubled compared with the same period in 2011. They are four times higher than 2010. Even though my darling claims that I am the sole responsible of this increase by my own, I sware I didn’t order pens from Amazon 🙂

Interestingly, this soar does not indicate any increase in handwriting since the ballpoint sales are stable.

According to Gordon Scott, vice-president for office products at Parker pens in Europe, the Middle East and Asia (waouuv for the title): “People want the memory of a fountain pen in a contemporary pen. Somehow, the fountain pen became a luxury item and found a niche.”

For Martin Roberts from Writing Desk: “There is a McDonald’s on every High Street but it does not prevent people from enjoying good, simple, home-cooked food”

According to me, it is a very human struggle to leave a mark and being unique and fountain pens are a part of this instinct. That’s why, we put handwritten notes to our presents and write letters to our unborn children.

Therefore: VIVA FOUNTAIN PEN!
